In honour of Indigenous Veterans and my father, Reginal Alfred Devonshire and mother, Irene Sarah Cole, I have created a book about Tyendinaga community member, Huron Eldon Brant. In collaboration with Canadian Encyclopedia, Historica Canada and the Library and Archives/Department of National Defense, the story combines the telling of Huron Brant’s bravery with historical information, as well as facts about the struggles that Indigenous Veterans face. A special thank you to my dear friend, Wendy Gray for her talented artwork and design layout and to my wonderful cousin, Charles Bamlett, Major Retired, for the book printing. 100% of book sale proceeds are being donated to Indigenous Veterans.

It has been a dream for a long time to be a part of the Landing Day Ceremony in Tyendinaga and be able to walk in the footsteps of our ancestors. It was a very special moment in my life to carry the canoe with my daughter during the reenactment in May 2026.

Very honoured and excited to be at the grand opening of the new Kenhtè:ke Language and Cultural Centre in May. It was an incredible experience to be there to see the ribbon cutting ceremony and hear the about all the hard work and efforts over many years of planning and implementation. I’m very happy to be able to contribute to such a meaningful endevour. Donations to date from Lightning Spark Books’ sale proceeds have totaled $27,000. Thank you! Nya:wen! to everyone who has supported this important project to revive and restore Mohawk Language and Culture.
